About Monica

An inspiring person who is multi-talented in a diverse range of fields.
 

Monica Rouvellas, from Sydney, Australia, began her career as a composer and violinist.  Monica holds a Bachelor of Music (1st Class Honours) from the faculty of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the University of Sydney, an MBA from the University of Technology, Sydney, specialising in business strategy, marketing and organisational design, and a Juris Doctor in law from the UNSW specialing in corporate, property and tax law. Monica is currently completing her PhD at the University of Technology Sydney.

 

Monica is a successful teacher, having taught violin, composition and music theory from 2007. In 2013, Monica founded a leading music education provider as well as undertaking an academic teaching position in business for several major universities. Monica consults and provides mentoring for other music entrepreneurs. 

The Music Teacher

Monica is a passionate teacher, violinist, composer and producer. Born in Sydney, Monica started learning violin at the age of 6 thanks to the influence of Australian composer Matthew Hindson. From here Monica developed a love for music and studied violin with many influential violin teachers. At age 13 Monica began writing her own music ranging from big band pieces to works for full orchestra. At age 15 Monica studied with the late Emeritus Professor Eric Gross who taught her about orchestration and cinematic scoring.

 

In 2007, Monica received a scholarship to study music at the prestigious Sydney Conservatorium of Music (a faculty of the University of Sydney). In 2010, Monica completed her Bachelor of Music with 1st Class Honours.

 

Monica began teaching violin in 2008. Monica provides a well-rounded approach to teaching, adjusting her teaching style according to the individual student, their needs, their ability, and their commitment to learning music. Monica uses a range of teaching methods and styles to suit all students of all ages and abilities. Her aim is to ensure students not only achieve their personal musical goals but to ensure learning is fun, progressive and technically sound. Monica teaches students at all levels and of all ages.

Monica’s students have achieved exceptional results in all their AMEB exams, with the lowest grade received being a B (credit). In June 2017, Monica had 7 students complete exams with 2 students receiving A+s, 5 Students receiving As and 2 students receiving Bs.

Monica has experience in teaching at primary and secondary schools throughout Sydney, as well as teaching tertiary students at the top universities within NSW.

 

Monica teaches violin in the Sydney Hills District. Her violin students come from Castle Hill, Kellyville, Kellyville Ridge, Baulkham Hills, Bella Vista, Stanhope Gardens, Glenwood, Schofields, The Ponds, Riverstone, Rouse Hill, Box Hill, Pitt Town, Kenthurst and Annangrove.

The Violinist, Composer and Recording Producer & Engineer

Monica Rouvellas is both a concert and session violinist. Monica has performed throughout Australia in world class venues including the Sydney Opera House and Angel Place Recital City Hall.  Monica has appeared on various tv shows including the Midday Show with Kerry-Ann and has performed for the opening of the Olympic Stadium at Sydney's Olympic Park.  Monica performs regularly as soloist and as part of ensembles ranging from string quartets through to full symphony orchestras. Monica also works as a session violinist for local music acts.

 

Monica is an up-and-coming Australian composer, writing works for all genres including film and tv scores, and TV commercials. Monica also does arrangements and instrumentations for mainstream pop songs. As a composer, Monica has been commissioned to write works for young musicians and she works closely with various youth orchestras and programs.

 

Monica Rouvellas is also one of Australia 's leading classical and jazz music producers and engineers, having recorded over 500 live music concerts, and having recordings broadcasted on national radio networks. Monica has produced and engineered many classical recording albums.

The Business Woman

Monica Rouvellas holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New South Wales and an MBA from the University of Technology Sydney. Monica is a business professional specialising in small to medium business. Monica provides both a management and legal perspective in operating businesses. She works with SMEs on a range of issues from starting up a business, to developing a business strategy, marketing the business, employing talent, business investments, business structures and taxation issues.

 

 

Monica's legal specialisation includes property law, commercial law and taxation. Monica's business specialisation is in SMEs, strategic management, change management, human resource management, business taxation.

 

Monica also lectures and tutors in business, management and law at Australia's leading universities, and done so for the past 6 years.
